Dr. Chelze Zamani is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT, #121997), private practice owner, clinical supervisor, and adjunct professor specializing in complex trauma in Tongva land, so-called California. Dr. Zamani values providing care that integrates lived experience, ancestral wisdom, and liberation to support relationships, families, and individuals navigating relational wounds and intergenerational trauma. Passionate about education, she mentors emerging therapists with a trauma-informed lens. Dr. Zamani is mixed race and in 2022 began offering community support to other Afghan-mixed folks all around the world. Dr. Zamani is dedicated to fostering resilience in her communities, empowering healing, and advancing trauma competency across therapeutic and academic settings.
I specialize in working with families, caregivers, groups, couples therapy, individuals, and adolescents. In my practice, I work with service users who have experienced sexual trauma, developmental trauma, adverse childhood experiences, relational trauma, and familial struggles. I work from a de-colonized, western, and trauma aware perspective with a culturally inclusive lens. I am passionate about utilizing a systemic approach while incorporating intersectionality of each person(s) I work with. Authenticity and transparency are really important to me. I strive for open and honest conversations and connections since I know that we don't always get this type of experience in our outside relationships (i.e. family, friends, co-workers). I believe therapy is a space where you get to show up AS YOU. Come as you are. I value your authenticity and hopefully over time, you deeply feel that too. Lastly, language, respect, and inclusion are important to me and I will utilize these forms of empathy in empowering you on your journey of healing. It is my mission to help you to feel safe, seen, and acknowledged in the time we share together. I hope you feel comfortable enough to bring the hard stuff up into session whether it's about working with me or a secret you have had to carry with you for some time.
It is also my responsibility to acknowledge and identify the privileges I hold as a therapist. Anti-racism work is important to me and, as a mixed person, having conversations is important to me in the work that needs to be done by non-BIPOC. I believe social justice work begins by centering the most oppressed rather than solely educating the oppressor. In addition, I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and welcome all individuals questioning or curious about exploring their sexuality.
My social location: SWANA/mixed, diaspora, trauma-survivor, queer, neurodivergent, millennial.
